Sounds like the name of a Roman emperor-type character in a science fiction thriller. Who thinks these names up? I swear, names of photographic gear are reaching levels of extravagance that could only be workable in the era of point-‘n’-click shopping. Back in the day, writing or reciting “I want a Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS II with a side of Speedlite 270EX II” would’ve been a challenge for some buyers and fraught with chances for error on the part of some sales, order-filling and shipping people. Whew.
Perhaps that’s one way to guarantee a unique product name, so they can avoid name collisions and lawsuits and such? 🙂
Indeed, there’s no way two people working independently of each other would both come up with a name like Walimex Pro Aptaris Universal XL. 😉
