These offers expired… The teasers in the Amazon Gold Box lightning deals, which can also filter them at the Camera and Photo page and the Electronics page, are filed under “more of the same” for Sunday, the usual brands of studio/lighting kits and tripods and such. Due to time constraints I cannot produce a detailed schedule for this tonight.

Nor should you have to. Past some number of months of telling the inmates it’s bread and water for lunch again, the “news” — if and when there is any — becomes anything else being served for lunch. That is, in the seemingly unlikely event there is actually a change in what’s to be served.
IMHO. Amazon has let the Gold Box lightning deals gimmick degenerate, at least where things I might be interested in are concerned. Time and again, any notably good deal is a “now you see it, now you don’t” proposition where you need arcade-game reflexes to bu ity. Or, I would need be up and online at 4:21 a.m. Pacific Time. Beyond that, it often seems to be a come on, wherein surprisingly slight discounts are applied to likely slow-moving merchandise.
Lest anyone get the idea I’m an Amazon basher, let me point out that I just got an excellent color laser printer there for half its original price. That was after having to return a less-expensive one from another manufacturer that was DOA out of the box. Amazon took it back promptly, with no hassles and for no return-shipping charge. I was impressed and grateful. I’m sure the new printer that works is at the end of its new-product life cycle. It’s neither lightweight nor compact, but it is well-designed and appears to be built for the ages. It’s loaded with useful features. All’s well that ends well. But this deal didn’t come on the end of a lightning bolt or in a gold box. I ferreted it out during a couple of hours of late-night product research. 😉
I like the “bread and water” lunch analogy! Yeah, since they opened the floodgates to almost any marketplace sellers and they and/or the manufacturers restricted the well-known/desired products, it became more of a wild west.
I am going to start experimenting with different ways to cover things, since the market has changed significantly since this blog originally began.
Experiment away. The tedium of listing the daily ration of studio lights/background cloths/stands/etc., alone must be more mind numbing than being strapped in front of a TV where you’re forced to watch endless days of “Duck Dynasty” reruns.
