It will be very awkward in the future to have to call a 20 year old lens a “Contemporary” lens. Perhaps Sigma marketing did not zoom far enough in the future when naming these 😉
Improv aside (please only throw organic and biodynamic tomatoes at me), the Sigma 18-300mm f3.5-6.3 DC Macro HSM Contemporary lens goes for $500 at B&H Photo and it comes with 4% promotional rewards (around $20), along with a free Sigma AML72-01 Close-Up Lens and a free Sigma USB Dock including automatically by B&H while this promotion is running (it shows the free items on the individual product pages). Offer ends 5/8/16.
This is available in a stabilized version for the Canon and Nikon and Shiguma SLR mounts, and non-stabilized for the Sony A and Pentax K SLR mounts.
PS: the (C/N/A/P/Si) or similar patterns you see in the post titles are (shockingly perhaps) not the cat typing or me trying to make an obscurely obscure joke. They are abbreviations for the various camera mounts:
+ C = Canon
+ N = Nikon
+ A = Sony Alpha A-mount fka Minolta fka Dyxum fka Maxxum
+ P = Pentax K-mount
+ Si = Sigma SA SLR mount
+ E = Sony E-mount
+ m43 = Micro Four Thirds
+ X = Fuji X mount
+ M = Leica M
+ PL = PL mount
+ CX = Nikon CX 1-System 1-Mistake
+ Q = Pentax Q ~ Star Trek’s Q made them do it
+ 645 = 645
