One of the main Amazon Gold Box daily deals for Saturday October 1st in 2016 is a 3-Month Subscription to the Texture service, a Netflix-like services for digital editions of print magazines. This offer is good for New Subscribers only. You pay $10, and for three months you have digital access on 200+ digitized magazines on up to five tablets and phones. This service (for some strange reason) does NOT work on PCs or Laptops or Streaming Devices or TVs. I wonder if you can use it on Chromebooks running Google Play Android though (I have neither the service, nor a ChromeDroid laptop, so I can’t test it).
This is the complete list of subscriptions. Of photography interest, they include Outdoor Photographer, Popular Photography, and Shutterbug. A number of six-degrees of separation magazines are including that feature photography (eg ESPN, Architectural Digest, National Geographics, fashion, weddings, sports, nature, etc). Of tech interest, they have Wired, CNET, Consumer Reports, PC Mag, PC World, etc.
After the 3-month promotional subscription expires, it automatically converts to a $15/month subscription. You can cancel it manually through the Amazon menus before then if you want to avoid the monthly fee.
NOTE that you don’t get to keep any of the magazines after the subscriptions ends. Just like Netflix, it’s all you can eat while you are in the buffet room, but no sneaking apples in pocket 😉
