Nikon opted for a Union of the Two Flagship Towers at CES 2016. In parallel with the D500, they have also revealed their new full frame DSLR flagship, the D5, with a starting price of $6500. What is a bit unusual here is that we have two (!) versions of the camera, one takes Compactflash and the other takes XQD memory cards. This is a dual slot camera, but you get two of the same memory card format, not one of each. They are already available for pre-order for $6500 as follows:
+ D5 Compact Flash at B&H Photo and Amazon itself and Adorama
+ D5 XQD at B&H Photo and Amazon itself and Adorama
+ you can find these added to the reference/tracking page for New Cameras & Lenses of 2016
