FYI: As of 2:32 Pacific time, the price was $92.99. I’ve checked a half-dozen lightning deal items in less than 10 minutes after the start time in the past month and have only seen a sale price on two. In both cases, the sale discount was negligible. At least twice I checked an item within four minutes and both were at the given pre-lightning price.. This kind of thing makes for a disincentive to bother checking back.
Yeah, since they opened up the lightning deals to 3rd-party sellers, it’s more chaos. There are usually around 2000 of them per day. Things get cancelled and/or rescheduled. Sometimes you have to click on the “View Offer” button it doesn’t show it right away. Since it’s open to 3rd-party sellers, I don’t know who the lightning deal seller is gonna be for each offer, so I have to use the default link. Unfortunately short of babysitting all of them throughout the day, it’s impossible to get them pinned down.
You do a fantastic job of pointing out the deals based on the information you can get. “Chaos” with too many third-party sellers seems to be the right term and diagnosis. I wouldn’t expect you to try to verify and monitor them all.
I get the impression Amazon is going off in too many directions. The basic knitting needs tending to, first and foremost. 😉
But you raised some good points! I must needs do some outside the box thinking to see if this can be done in a better way. Partly MAP pricing kinda killed some of the better deals, since they aren’t allowed to discount them, so it’s mostly older camera gear and tertiary accessory brands..
