Pre-order new Nikon D3400 DSLR kit for $650

With IFA and Photokina 2016 just around the corner [see Trade Show Calendar], many and more new tech items will see the light of day in the next few weeks.

Which brings us to Nikon, revealing their new entry-point in their APS-C DSLR line-up, it is the new Nikon D3400 DSLR that comes with two official kits. One is bundled with the new AF-P (yes, P as in Pea) 18-55mm f3.5-5.6G DX VR lens for $650, and another bundled with the new 18-55 and the new AF-P 70-300mm f4.5-6.3G ED DX non-VR for $1000.

Pre-orders of all the kits are available at B&H Photo and Adorama and Amazon itself.

But if you are comfortable with imported grey-market gear without a warranty, you can get it for $750 with free shipping by Photo4Less on eBay (99.9%, New York) with a limit of five per customer. The above is a high risk purchase, a happy medium for some may be going the manufacturer-refurbished route, you can get the D7200 body only along with the 55-200m f4-5.6 DX VR II lens and the Wu-1a wireless thing for $850 with a 90 day Nikon warranty by Adorama. All included items are manufacturer refurbished. You can always sell/trade/gift/experiment-upon the 55-200 lens if you don’t want/need it.

Nikon Lens Instant Savings end 7/30/16 (include Corel software)

The current iteration of the Nikon Lens Instant Savings expires on 7/30/16 and it features a variety of lenses. Adorama is sweetening the offer by including extra lens-related accessories and the Corel software bundle (that includes AfterShot and PSP) for the same price as without the free accessories.

You can find the participating lenses nicely organized at the promotional page. They are:

+ Primes: 35/1.8 for $167, 50/1.8 for $177, 40/2.8 for $247, 10.5 f2.8 fishy for $597

+ Zooms: 12-24/4 for $947, 17-85/2.8 for $1197, 24-70/2.8 for $1797

Part of this round is also the Nikon D500 with 16-80mm f2.8-4 DX VR going for $2567, a much more reasonable price than the $3100+ that Nikon decided to start this kit at. The D500 already has an APS-C price premium baked into it, creating a kit with a lens premium in it as well, was probably not the smartest idea. Which is why the invisible hand of the market grabbed it by the ear and lowered the price 🙂
