Costco Members Only offers: Olympus TG-3, GoPro {don’t know the prices}

Currently Costco has two camera offers that are members-only exclusives (you can’t buy members-only items with a 5% surcharge if you are not member), which often means the prices are better than the rest of the internets. It is the red Olympus TG-4 waterproof P&S cameras with extras, and the GoPro Hero3+ Silver Edition with Li-ion Battery and Dual Battery Charger.

NOTE: Unfortunately I am not a Costco member, so I don’t know what the prices are. Even if you login with a Costco account, you can’t see the prices without being a member. Maybe I need to start a Kickstarter to fund purchases of memberships so I can check prices 😉

Free Accessories with Tamron 85mm f1.8 Di VCD USD for $750 (C/N)

The brand new Tamron 85mm f1.8 Di VC USD lens is now widely available at authorized dealers (eg now both Canon and Nikon versions are in-stock at B&H Photo), so it has reached the next stage in its product lifecycle, bundling it with free accessories. You can get a free 32GB Lexar SD card, a UV filter, a lens cap keeper, a cleaning kit and a microfiber cloth for the same price of $750 by Beach Camera with the order getting Prime shipping benefits (ships from Beach, not Amazon) in either the Nikon mount or the Canon mount.

PS: retroactive correction: I often get the Tamron and Tokina names confused 🙂 Did they have to both start with a T and be six letters long and share many common letters? If they were both in love with “T”, why couldn’t they name them Tammy and Trozzziaiaoaonizozzazziza? 🙂

They can hold up to 12oz of liquid and come with a screw-on lid, and stainless steel construction ~ per the specs there.

Imported Nikon 50mm f1.8D for $99

Back to the eBay Deals Top 100 we go where eBay seller “PhotoVideo4Less” (99.9%, ships from Brooklyn) is offering the imported grey-market new condition Nikon 50mm f1.8D lens for $99 with free shipping, with a limit of 50 per customer. No warranty is mentioned in the listing.

In contrast, this goes for $130~ at authorized dealers (eg Adorama).

Speaking of eBay, celebrating Star Wars Day, the The Force Awakens Blu-Ray/DVD/DigitalHD set is on sale for $17 with free shipping (ships from Kentucky; limit 5 per customer; Calipari not included!).

Pentax K50 w/18-55 for $255 [B&M YMMV: two-lens kit w/flash for $360]

Microcenter resisted the temptation during the previous bubble years to expand exponentially and it looks like that decision proved wise, as other bigger chain stores collapsed, while Microcenter is alive and kicking, kicking for your shopping love 😉

Which brings us to their latest promotion there, the Pentax K50 DSLR. The K50 with 18-55mm in the black color scheme is on sale for $250 plus $5 flat shipping… They also have a K50 two-lens kit (18-55, 55-200) along with the AF-200FG kit for $360 but this one is only available in-store. Store availability varies by store, so that’s a big YMMV…

TIP: their website defaults you to a local store. If you are interested in the K50 w/18-55 kit, change your store to the “Micro Center Web Store” at the top of the page. Annotated screenshot crop below:

Fujifilm INSTAX Mini Instant Film Twin Pack for $12.48 (shipping depends)

The Fujifilm INSTAX Mini Instant Film Twin Pack (20 total sheets, 2×10) is on sale for $12.48 at B&H Photo and Adorama (buy 2 or more for $12.38 each) and Amazon itself… Shipping depends. Prime members get free 2-day shipping. For everybody else, shipping is free with an order of $49 or more.

PS: for the speed readers out there, this is the “Instax Mini” film.

Imported Fuji X-T1 body only for $700 (or w/18-55 for $1150)

The Fuji X-T1 body only goes for $1300 at authorized dealers, while the kit with the 18-55mm goes for $1700. Authorized dealers are allowed to bundle it with free accessories and promotional rewards, eg Adorama.

But if you are more of a risk taker and comfortable with imported grey-market items, among the latest eBay Deals, eBay seller “Electronics Valley” (99.6%) is offering the new condition imported grey-market with a 1-year seller warranty (not Fuji USA) Fuji X-T1 body only for $700 with free shipping. On that listing, you can also select the X-T1 with 18-55mm for $1150. Change the “MPN” option in the menu to switch between the two. It shows product numbers instead of human-readable model names, but there are only two options, 16421452 (Body Only),16432786 (Body+18-135mm Lens).

Kudos to this eBay seller for clearly filling in the warranty details in the eBay “Item Specifics” where it specifies that it does not come with a manufacturer warranty and that it is an import item with a 1-year seller warranty. Also kudos for having a big banner further down the product description saying this is an “IMPORT MODEL”. Annotated screenshot crop below:

This is a step in the right direction for retailers: giving the consumer all the information needed to make an informed decision.

If you would like to see any others cameras or sellers added, please leave a comment or use the online contact form.

Sigma 18-300mm f3.5-6.3 DC Macro Contemporary w/$20 Rewards and Free Close-Up Lens and USB Dock for $500 (C/N/A/P/Si)

It will be very awkward in the future to have to call a 20 year old lens a “Contemporary” lens. Perhaps Sigma marketing did not zoom far enough in the future when naming these 😉

Improv aside (please only throw organic and biodynamic tomatoes at me), the Sigma 18-300mm f3.5-6.3 DC Macro HSM Contemporary lens goes for $500 at B&H Photo and it comes with 4% promotional rewards (around $20), along with a free Sigma AML72-01 Close-Up Lens and a free Sigma USB Dock including automatically by B&H while this promotion is running (it shows the free items on the individual product pages). Offer ends 5/8/16.

This is available in a stabilized version for the Canon and Nikon and Shiguma SLR mounts, and non-stabilized for the Sony A and Pentax K SLR mounts.

PS: the (C/N/A/P/Si) or similar patterns you see in the post titles are (shockingly perhaps) not the cat typing or me trying to make an obscurely obscure joke. They are abbreviations for the various camera mounts:
+ C = Canon
+ N = Nikon
+ A = Sony Alpha A-mount fka Minolta fka Dyxum fka Maxxum
+ P = Pentax K-mount
+ Si = Sigma SA SLR mount
+ E = Sony E-mount
+ m43 = Micro Four Thirds
+ X = Fuji X mount
+ M = Leica M
+ PL = PL mount
+ CX = Nikon CX 1-System 1-Mistake
+ Q = Pentax Q ~ Star Trek’s Q made them do it
+ 645 = 645

Canon 80D Kits start getting Free Accessories

After the early adapters are fed at the trough of time (vomit-worthy poetic imagery here!), newly released digital cameras start getting free accessories with purchase, often before the first discounts arrive. Such is the case with the Canon 80D kits, all three official kits (body $1200, w/18-55 $1350, w/18-135 $1600) are getting three free accessories at B&H Photo: extra Watson battery, 16GB Extreme SDHC, and shoulder bag.

On the other hand, if you are the mail-in rebate and gift card type, there is one such bundle centered around the 80 body only at Adorama. You pay $1600 at checkout, and receive the Canon 80D body only, the Pixma PRO 100 printer, its trusty sidekick (50pk 13×19″ SG-201 photo paper), a 32GB Lexar SD card, and an extra 3rd-party charger with two 3rd-party batteries. After you make sure all is well, you submit the mail-in rebate, and if all is well, a few weeks later you will receive a $350 prepaid American Express Gift Card by snail mail, making it a $1250 after $350 MIR offer.

In-stock now: Zeiss Batis 25mm f2 and 85mm f1.8 (FF E-mount)

This is the first of three in-stock alerts from B&H Photo, don’t bat an eye, you may miss them (I think I have exceeded my quota of bat/Batis jokes for this year).

Two new Zeiss Batis E-mount lenses are now in-stock at B&H Photo, and they come with 4% promotional rewards (to be used in future B&H purchases). It is the Zeiss Batis 85mm f1.8 for $1200 and the Zeiss Batis 25mm f2 for $1300. This is full frame E-mount.

For more action, check the latest B&H Mother’s Day Specials good until 5/8/16 (some require coupon code MOMDAY16).

In-stock now: Sigma 50-100mm f1.8 DC HSM Art for $1100 (C/N)

If camera-gear announcements were done like post-game sports interviews, Sigma executives would be teary-eyed saying “we proved the naysayers wrong, they said it couldn’t be done, but we did it! I would like to thank my team mates and coaches…”…

… which brings us to the Sigma 50-100mm f1.8 DC HSM Art Lens, now in-stock and ready to ship at its starting price of $1100 from B&H Photo in the Canon EF mount and Nikon F mount.
