So if you are not a risk-averse shopper, and comfortable buying imported (grey market, without Nikon USA warranty) professional DSLRs, there is a temptation among the latest eBay Deals. eBay seller “GetItDigital” (99.6%) is offering the new condition imported (grey market) Nikon D4S for $4000 with free shipping, with a limit of five per buyer. They do not come with a Nikon USA warranty, but the seller GetItDigital offers a sellers warranty that offers similar coverage. 100 units got sold so far from this listing as of the time of writing.
With a price difference of $2000, this is not an unreasonable risk for one to take, however, different people have different risk tolerances and such, so it is a very personal decision. One rule of thumb if you are 50-50: can you sleep at night with such a purchase or will you twist and turn all night long like they do in the movies? 🙂
