A used Leica M6 is the ultimate depreciation stopper?

One of the banes of high tech, and digital cameras is, that just like cars, the moment you press "order" you start losing "value" in your new purchase. Granted, you are not buying a camera for the same reasons you are buying a stock or a financial investment, however, nobody likes to see what they bought drop in value day by day.

So, the Online Photographer has a suggestion for those who do not want to lose any value from their gear: Used Leicas!

That's right, they may cost a lot (even used) to get into, but when you resell, you can recoup your initial payment, and if you are business-savvy (or lucky), even make a profit. Of course you still have to pay for film and film development because the digital Leicas are still too expensive to buy used, and an unknown in terms of long-term resale value...

Luminous Landscape used gear sale

The Imaging Insider spotlights the used gear sale at Luminous Landscape. Yes, you too can get some of the gear used by the LL!

This includes a lot of medium format stuff (I guess he was serious about the Canon G10!), along with Alpo, Linhoff, Fuji TX-1, and such. But the lion's share of available items belongs to Hasselblad.

Selling unused/unwanted gear without the hassle

If you have photographic gear you don't need or don't use, but you don't have the time or the energy or patience to deal with sellers, eBay, Craigslist and such, there is an alternative, the Equipment Lady. She will take care of the sale of the equipment, in exchange of course for a percentage-fee of the transaction for the service.

Another option for dealing with unused/unwanted equipment in these economic times is trading roughly equal value with other photographers. You know, "I'll trade you my beat-up Mamiya for your beat-up Leica lens".
