Nikon Instant Rebates (DSLRs and Lenses and Speedlights) good until 4/27/13

A new round of Nikon Instant Rebates is up at Amazon, good until 4/27/13. It includes the usual assortment of DSLRs (from D3100 all the way up to the D4, including the new D7100) and lenses (70-300, 24-85, superzooms, telezooms) and Speedlights. The lens offers vary depending on the DSLR. For example, the entry-level APS-C dSLRs get the DX telezooms, while more advanced APS-C and full-frame DSLRs get more advanced lenses.

The Nikon Instant Rebates at Amazon have been extended by a week. The new expiration date is November 24, 2012. As far as I can tell, it's the same DSLR kits and same lenses as before.

Nikon D600 w/28-300 VR also eligible for Nikon Instant Rebates

If you are planning a big Nikon purchase or a system switch to Nikon, the recently launched Nikon D600 w/28-300mm FX VR kit ($3000) is also eligible for the Nikon Instant Rebates even though it is not listed there. To verify this, add the D600 w/28-300 to your shopping cart along with any of the lenses that the other D600 kits are eligible for. Then proceed to the Amazon Checkout page, and at the top right corner, you will notice the discounts - if all is well. If you don't see the discounts, it means there is something wrong. Do not proceed! The instant rebates are good until Nov-17-2012 (unless they get extended again).

Here is an example of the top right corner of the Amazon Checkout page, with the 24-85 ($100 off) and the 24-70 and 70-200 and 70-300 ($200 off each lens) along with the D600 w/28-300 kit added to the shopping cart:

BONUS: A lot of the aforementioned items are eligible for the 2% promotional Amazon Rewards. For all eligible items, 35 days after your order is shipped, you will receive 2% of your purchase price in an Amazon promotional credit - see details. If you are planning a big purchase, eg the example shown above, it adds up real fast, 2% of $7773 = $155~.

Nikon Lens Instant rebates extended until Nov-17-2012

The Nikon Lens Instant Rebates have been renewed/extended until November 17, 2012. They feature the same variety of DSLRs and lenses and the discounts are stackable (one DSLR kit, multiple lenses). See all the available options at the Nikon Instant Rebates page.

If you are not sure about a lens or DSLR, the easiest way to find out whether it is eligible is to add to the shopping cart, proceed to the checkout page, and look at the top right corner of the Amazon Checkout page. If all is well, you will see the discounts at the top right corner of the Amazon Checkout page. If all is not well, you will not see the discounts.

Free Lowepro 350AW and other extras with Nikon D800

If you are determined to get the Nikon D800, there is a freebies promotion at Amazon, you get a free Lowepro 350 AW fastpack (black), a free 32GB Transcend Class 10 UHS SDHC card and a Training Credit. The promotion was supposed to expire October 7, but when you add all items to cart and proceed to the Amazon Checkout page, the free items continue to be discounted as free!

Here is an annotated screenshot crop of the top right corner of the Amazon Checkout page as of October-16-2012 at 6:10pm ET:

Nikon-d800-freebies

Stackable and optional to the above promotion are the Nikon Lens Instant Rebates where you can buy one eligible DSLR and multiple eligible lenses in the same shopping cart and get multiple discounts on that particular purchase. These expire October 27, 2012 (or later if extended or earlier if cancelled).

Some of the above items are also eligible for the 2% Amazon Promotional Credit rewards. These will be delivered 35 days after your order is shipped. Please note this is 35 days after shipment date, not after order date. This is a limited time promotion but no expiration date is mentioned.

Nikon Instant Rebates continue until October 27 (Speedlights added)

The Nikon Instant Rebates at Amazon continue to expand. The last round expired yesterday, but fear not, a new round started today, and it is good until October 27, 2012. The new round adds new lenses (eg $150 off the 28-300) and also adds two Speedlights (SB700, SB910). See all the details at the new Nikon Instant Rebates page.

Just like before, the discounts are stackable in this fashion: one DSLR with multiple lenses and flashes in one shopping cart gets mutliple discounts! Only one unit of each individual lens model (eg one 70-300, one 18-200, one 70-200, one SB-700, etc). What is not stackable is one DSLR and multiple copies of the same lens (eg one DSLR and three 70-300 lenses in the same shopping cart).

A separate and automated promotion will get you 2% back in the form of an Amazon promotional credit rewards. The 2% is on the purchase price of most of the above items, as long as they are sold and shipped by Amazon itself (not 3rd-party sellers).

The Nikon D7000 is once again the "Hoover" of all eligible items. It is eligible for everything, which might also be of interest if you are planning a big Nikon purchase or a switch to Nikon. If you buy the D7000 body and all eligible lenses and flashes, you will get a combined purchase discount of $1430 (assuming our on-the-fly addition of all instant rebates is correct)

On top of that, some of the Nikon APS-C dSLRs qualify for a free Sandisk 16GB 45MB/sec SDHC card. Just add to cart, and the price of the memory card will be automatically deducted at the top right corner of the Amazon checkout page - just like the Instant Rebate discounts.

All of the above promotions are stackable!

In-stock alert: Nikon D600 body for $2100

The wait is very short for the brand new Nikon D600 full frame DSLR! The camera is now in-stock at Amazon by Amazon itself for its starting price of $2100 for the body only.

If you need the D600 w/24-85mm kit, don't buy the standard kit for $2700. Instead you can get it for $2600 if you add the D600 body only and the 24-85mm to your shopping cart together in the same shopping cart transaction. This is because of the current Nikon Lens Instant Rebate promotions. (expire Sept-29-2012).

The instant rebate promotions are stackable so you can buy one DSLR and multiple lenses in the same shopping cart transaction and get multiple discounts (eg $100 off the 24-85, $200 off the 70-200, etc)

Nikon D600 w/24-85mm for $2600 (savings of $100 already)

Thanks to the magic of the just-updated Nikon Instant Rebates, you can get the new Nikon D600 with the 24-85mm for $100 less than the starting price of $2700 for the standard kit!

Simply add the D600 body only to the shopping cart, then add the 24-85mm f3.5-4.5G VR lens to the shopping cart and you will get a $100 discount automatically at the top right corner of the Amazon Checkout page. Here is an annotated screenshot crop showing this:

Nikon 70-300 and 85/3.5 join Nikon Instant Rebates

The Nikon Instant Rebates have "grown" today, as two more lenses have joined the party again, it is the 70-300mm f4.5-5.6G VR with a $200 off combined purchase discount, and the 85mm f3.5G DX VR with a $100 off combined purchase discount. They expire September-29-2012 (unless they get renewed again).

These are STACKABLE: buy one Nikon DSLR kit and as many eligible lens models as you wish in the same shopping cart transaction. You will get a discount for each eligible lens model. You can only get one discount for each individual lens model (eg one discount for the 70-300, one for the 18-200, one for the 85/3.5, etc; but not two 70-300). Different lenses are eligible for different DSLR kits. The Nikon D7000 is the wild-card, it is eligible for all participating lenses.

We will update the Nikon Instant Rebates permanent page later on Monday. The super-long new Opinions Round-up "ate up" most of our "cpu cycles" for tonight.

On a planning note, there will be a photography magazine daily deal later on Monday. We will post it after it goes live. It is too dangerous to schedule blog-posts when in blogger-zombie mode :)

Nikon DSLR Instant Rebates at B&H Photo

B&H Photo has set up a detailed page showing the latest Nikon DSLR Instant Rebates featuring the D4, D800s, D7000, D90, D5100, D3200 and D3100. These expire August-25-2012 (unless extended).

Nikon 18-200mm DX VR II joins the Nikon DSLR Instant Rebates

The Nikon 18-200mm DX VR II has now joined the Nikon Instant Rebates which are good until July 28, 2012 (unless renewed). The combined purchase discount is $150 off. The current lens price is $850, which means, you can buy it together with a qualifying Nikon DSLR kit for +$700.

The 18-200mm DX VR II is eligible for the Nikon Instant Rebates for the APS-C Nikon DSLRs (D3100, D3200, D5100, D90, D7000).

Running in parallel are the Nikon Professional Instant Rebates with the 24-70 and 70-200 f2.8 lenses which include the D800, D800e, D4, D3x, D300s and D7000.

As you can see from the two lists above, the Nikon D7000 sits at the intersection of the two instant rebate programs, which means you can get it with all five eligible lenses. These are stackable, so you can buy one Nikon D7000 DSLR kit and the five eligible lenses and get all five discounts. Since the D7000 sits at the intersection, we have created a special Nikon D7000 Instant Rebates page to track the D7000 instant rebates specifically.

Professional Nikon DSLR Instant Rebates w/24-70 and 70-200 f2.8 lenses

Latest Update: July 3, 2012 at 3:55pm ET: They are back! These are STACKABLE, so you buy both lenses together with one DSLR kit and get a $400 off combined purchase discount ($200 + $200)... EXAMPLE
In the example below, we add the Nikon D7000 body only, the 24-70mm f2.8 and the 70-200mm f2.8 lenses to the shopping cart. A screenshot crop of the top right corner with the combined purchases highlighted in yellow can be found right below:

DISCOUNTS NOT WORKING?
If you are following the steps and you have the correct items in your shopping cart, and they are all sold and shipped by Amazon (not by 3rd-party or marketplace sellers) and they are brand new (not used or refurbished) and you are still not getting the discounts please let me know in the comments or using the online contact form.

The most common user errors with these are:
1) not having the correct items in the correct quantities
2) some of the items are offered by someone other than Amazon itself
3) there might be multiple listings for the same item, some of the listings created by 3rd-parties instead of Amazon. You must buy the one sold and shipped by Amazon itself

(ENDED) July 4: Red Nikon D3200 w/18-55 (eligible for IRs)

The Amazon page has been updated, and now the estimate is "temporarily out of stock" by Amazon itself. The new estimate at Amazon says that the red Nikon D3200 w/18-55 will be in-stock on July 4, 2012, for its opening price of $700 with free shipping. Please note estimates change over time!

This red kit, along with many other Nikon DSLRs, are eligible for the stackable Nikon Instant Rebates (55-200, 55-300, both DX VR) at Amazon. They expire on June 30, 2012 (unless renewed). The red D3200 kit is not currently shown in the aforelinked page, but when you add to cart, you do get the instant rebate discounts, which are also shown on the aforelinked red D3200 product page.

Nikon D3200 now eligible for the Nikon Instant Rebates

The Nikon D3200 with the 18-55 kit is now eligible for the Nikon lens instant rebates (55-300 and/or 55-200 DX VR). We added it to the Nikon Instant Rebates permalink page where you can find more details on how these work.

Both the black and red D3200 kits are eligible, but as of the time of writing, only the black kit is in-stock by Amazon itself.

We tested (as of the time of writing of this blog-post) and the D3200 kits are not eligible for the three free accessories promotion (currently the D7000 and D5100 kits are eligible).

For the big picture on the D3200 stock situation, check the just-updated D3200 stock status page.
