It's Photokina Press Release Monday, and it's raining new cameras left and right. After toying around with the product numbering scheme, Ms Galaxy finally decided they had a camera that was worthy of the "1" name. They revealed the new NX1 APS-C camera with a backlit CMOS sensor and up to 15fps at full resolution. It is available for pre-order for $1500 as the NX1 body and $2800 with the 16-50mm f2-2.8 S lens. Release estimate is mid-October.

A similar release estimate for the new 50-140mm F2.8 R LM OIS WR XF lens with a preorder price of $1600 at Adorama and Amazon.

This is an imported model and it comes with a one year warranty from the seller, not from Canon. But the price is low enough that the risk is not as big as it would be on a $3000 DSLR. It is the new condition Canon EOS-M with 22mm f2 prime, offered in either black or white, for $250 with free shipping by eBay seller "BigValueInc" (99.3%). Limit five per buyer. Again, this is an imported / gray market camera.

If you are comfortable with gray market items, the current featured eBay deal du jour is the new condition imported (gray market) Canon EOS-M with 22mm f2 offered in either black or white (the other colors sold out) for $250 with free shipping and a limit of five per eBay shopper by eBay seller "6ave" (99.3%). This does not come with a USA warranty but a one year warranty from the seller "6ave". Given the price and type of camera and lens, this is not an unreasonable risk for one to take, but different people have different risk matrix tolerance levels, so, as always, it's up to you to decide. This is a limited time offer - the exact expiration date is unknown.
