Minox DCC Leica M3 ships for around $120 to $156

If you are a Leica fan and want to have a digital Leica bijou accessory camera for entertainment purposes, the good old Minox DCC Leica M3 is available on Amazon from different sellers at a wide-range. The lowest price is around $120 by third-party seller DBROTH. Ace Photo Digital and Adorama have it for around $140 and Amazon herself for $156. As usual, if buying from a third-party seller, or any seller, you are not familiar with, be sure to research them to your satisfaction. This is a deal notification blog, and while we try to provide as much information as we can, we are not making decisions for you! Different people have different preferences and risk tolerances and things like that...

This is an old digital camera, with a 5mp (sensor or interpolation we don't remember). Please note that the raison d^etre of this camera is not to take pictures, but to be "digital-bijou" or if you prefer, a digital-homage to the good old days when Leica ruled the world :)

Leica D-Lux4 available for $700 at multiple retailers!

It looks like the tall Panasonic ships from Japan brought with them some Leica D-Lux4 units as well! As of right now, a number of retailers have the camera in-stock and shipping for $700, which was its intended price before the shortages caused limited-availability premiums. This is not to say that its price is not-high as it is, it's just that it was higher than it was intended to be.

Okay, for those who survived that paragraph to nowhere, here are the retailers offering it for $700:
+ OneCall, with bonus Tamrac bag if you enter coupon code TREAT during checkout
+ J&R World
+ 3rd-party sellers at Amazon including Ace Photo Digital and OneCall
+ B&H Photo

For more on the camera, be sure to check its list of reviews and also some "cousin DLux4" updates at the LX3 diary.

Leica D-Lux 4 returns to $700

If you have been waiting for the Leica D-Lux 4 to return to its usual price of $700, we have some good news for you! You can get it right now for $700 with free shipping from OneCall.com. Enter coupon code TREAT during checkout and you will also receive a free camera bag.

Please note that the camera bag is not a Leica bag, but a general-purpose camera bag, and you get it with all camera purchases at OneCall of $200 more. The coupon code ends on October 26.

You can also get it for the same price from well-known 3rd-party sellers at Amazon including Ace Photo Digital and OneCall.

For more on the camera, be sure to check its list of reviews.

In-stock alert: Leica DLux4 Safari for $1000

If you had been holding out for the Leica D-Lux4 Safari edition, it is now in-stock and shipping from Ace Photo Digital and Willoughby's on Amazon.com. Amazon herself is out-of-stock but they are accepting pre-orders.

It will be interesting to see how the DLux4 demand is affected now that the Canon S90IS has started shipping. The S90IS goes for $430 out of the gate, and it has already managed to shave off most of the limited-availability premium of the Panasonic LX3.

Canon Strikes Back?

Retro-bijou digicam: Minox DCC Leica M3 Plus 24K Gold for $270

If you find the idea of a golden Minox DCC Leica M3 Plus appealing, then $270 is what you have to send to Adorama to receive it. Free shipping and handling is included. This is an older camera with a 5mp output (interpolated it seems), prime lens and a 1.5-inch LCD display.

If you are buying this to take pictures, you are doing it wrong :-)

Leica D-Lux 4 starter kit for $29 (case+battery)

If you are looking for an extra battery (BP-DC4-U) and PETA-bait camera-case for the D-Lux 4, the Leica D-Lux 4 starter kit goes for around $29 on Amazon and offered at this price by Ace Photo Digital, 17th Street and Willoughby's.

PLEASE NOTE: The battery inside this kit, according to the product reviews and the item's picture at Amazon, is branded "Hahnel", not "Leica". You can see a crop of the product picture below:

White Leica C-Lux 3 for $389 after rebate ($75 MIR)

If you are a Leica fan and like the Panasonic FX-series compacts, and you are not afraid of mail-in rebates, and you like white-colored digital cameras, then you have found the right post! You can have the white Leica C-Lux 3 for $389 after a $75 mail-in rebate, sold and shipped by Amazon.com.

Various 3rd-party sellers sell at Amazon, so if you are not buying from Amazon itself (sold and shipped by Amazon), but you are buying from a third-party seller at Amazon, be sure to find out whether they qualify for the rebate.

The black C-Lux 3 is currently in the nebulous "ships in 1 to 2 months" status from Amazon.com proper. Other sellers have it in-stock, but we do not know if they qualify for the $75 MIR (mail-in rebate).

(NOW $700) Leica D-Lux 4 delivered for $685

It's not exactly a big discount, but considering the un-availability of the LX3, a $15 discount brings the price closer to the premium-prices asked for the LX3. So, as of the time of writing, you can get the Leica D-Lux 4 for $685 with free shipping by OneCall at Amazon.com.

We still *gasp* don't have a list of Leica D-Lux 4 reviews, but the camera makes guest-appearances at the LX3 diary.

A used Leica M6 is the ultimate depreciation stopper?

One of the banes of high tech, and digital cameras is, that just like cars, the moment you press "order" you start losing "value" in your new purchase. Granted, you are not buying a camera for the same reasons you are buying a stock or a financial investment, however, nobody likes to see what they bought drop in value day by day.

So, the Online Photographer has a suggestion for those who do not want to lose any value from their gear: Used Leicas!

That's right, they may cost a lot (even used) to get into, but when you resell, you can recoup your initial payment, and if you are business-savvy (or lucky), even make a profit. Of course you still have to pay for film and film development because the digital Leicas are still too expensive to buy used, and an unknown in terms of long-term resale value...
