Following the instructions in the ensuing Amazon email, if you make the Discover card your default Kindle 1-Click Payment, and purchase digital content from Amazon (apps, e-books, mp3s, e-software, Audible audiobooks, instant video, etc) using the Discover card as the default 1-Click payment, you will receive a $10 Amazon Gift card within 10 business days. Limit 1 free gift card per customer during this promotion. You must request this promotion on your Kindle with Special Offers device by November 11, 2012. KSO: 16x20 canvas print shipped for $29 (and more sizes)

If you have a Kindle with Special Offers (KSO) e-ink hardware device, or if you have activated Special Offers on your non-KSO e-ink Kindle hardware device, there is a new promotion that gets you a 16x20 gallery-wrapped canvas print for $29 with free shipping by CanvasFocus.com. They also offer other sizes: 20x24 for $39 and 20x30 for $49. This promotion is good until the end of day May-21-2012.

Ideas: Photography titles to spend Kindle w/Special Offers $3 Video On Demand credit

If you have a Kindle with Special Offers eInk hardware device, turn on your device, connect to the internets and check your Special Offers. One of them gives you a $3 Video On Demand credit. You must claim this offer on the Kindle eInk hardware device by May 6, 2012, and use the $3 credit by June 6, 2012. You can watch the video wherever Amazon Video On Demand works on (web browsers, desktop computer application, Tivo, Roku, smart HDTVs, BluRay players, Kindle Fire, etc)

Kindle w/Special Offers: $5 off an order of $10+ (claim it by Dec-6-2011)

This offer is only available to e-ink Kindles with Special Offers activated, and the offer can only be claimed on actual Kindle hardware devices! From now until the end of day on December 6, 2011, you can claim a discount for $5 off an order of $10+. Once you claim it, you have until January 6, 2012 to use it.

If you are looking for ideas to spend it, there's always Class 10 SDHC cards.

PS #1: If you have a Kindle without Special Offers, but you want in on the offers, you can selectively turn offers on and off according to this Amazon Forums thread (I don't have access to a non-SpecialOffers Kindle, so I can't test it). [As far as I know the Kindle Fire is not participating in Special Offers]

Bargain hunters: you can add Special Offers to a non-Special-Offers Kindle

This is of interest to bargain hunters: if you have a Kindle device _without_ Special Offers, but want to take advantage of the Special Offers, a Kindle user in the Kindle Forums (via Fat Wallet) has discovered that you can activate or deactivate Special Offers at any time, and without cost. I don't have a way to test this, so check the above forums for questions. This turned into a long-winded post, so more after the jump...

Kindle w/Special Offers owners: $10 off $25+ software downloads

This promotion is only available to owners of the Kindle with Special Offers hardware devices who request this offer on their actual Kindle device before the end of day on Saturday September 17, 2011!

One of the Special Offers for this 4-day window is a $10 off discount on a software download of $25 or more. Of photography interest, the list of eligible software titles includes Adobe's Photoshop Elements 9, Premiere 9, Elements + Premiere 9 bundle, Serif Photo Plus Essentials, and Corel Painter 12 among others. Please note these are software downloads, not software boxes delivered by mail. The discount will expire on October 17, 2011 if not used.

Kindle SO owners: $5 off $10+ Amazon order

If you own an activated Kindle with Special Offers device, or plan to buy and activate one, you can request an offer that gets you a $5 discount on a purchase of $10 or more one by Saturday August 20 11:59pm pacific time. Once you request the offer, you have until September-20-2011 to spend it. You can spend it right away if you want, as soon as you receive the email from Amazon containing your unique promotional code.

The purchase must be a physical good, not a digital item or gift card, and it must be sold and shipped by Amazon itself, not 3rd-party sellers. Some ideas on how to spend it: photography book, memory card (eg 32GB Transcend Class 10 in frustration-free packaging, currently $48~, with discount $43~), camera accessories, and more.

Kindle w/Special Offers owners: 20% off 490+ laptops (including Apple)

If you are an owner of an activated and working Kindle with Special Offers device, or you plan to purchase and activate one by 11:59pm pacific on Monday August-8-2011, you can get a 20% discount on the current price of one laptop of your choice out of 490+ models, including 12 Apples, 360+ Windows 7 models, 100+ Windows Vista models, and 15 Windows XP (represent!). Update: Kindle SO a good deal for some Amazon shoppers (audiobooks, Chase, Roku) but one unknown remains

I have just updated the Deal or No Deal: Kindle with Special Offers diary, and it is time to summarize the findings so far! The diary will continue to be updated...

The Good News: If you are a frequent Amazon shopper, and a combination of the items offered match your needs, the Kindle with Special Offers (Kindle SO) is a great deal from a bargain hunter's perspective!

The Unknown: Will the promotions keep repeating every few weeks, so new Kindle SO owners will always have a shot to get them? If yes, that's great! If not, and the promotions are only offered once, then this is not as good of a deal. Only time will tell.

The Constant: All the offers so far are limit one! You cannot sign up for the same offer multiple times.

The Advertising Question

50% off Roku boxes for Kindle SO owners only (limited time)

This offer is only good for owners of the Kindle with Special Offers (Kindle SO). One of the current offers offers 50% off the current prices of three Roku boxes. You can only get this deal through the Kindle SO, the link here is for reference purposes only! To get this deal, select this offer from the Kindle SO, and in two days you will receive an email from Amazon with the offer details, sent to the email address associated with your Amazon.com account (not sure why they have this delay). The Roku boxes rarely get discounted this much, usually Black Fridays or special occasions.

Of photographer interest, the Roku boxes have free apps for flickr, Picasa, Smugmug, Vimeo, and Facebook Photos, and they can be used to view pictures or slide-shows. One potential use - replace the CD/DVD player playing your picture slide-shows on a HDTV with a Roku box connected to the internets.
