Three Japanese electronics giants launch recycling network

Three big Japanese electronics giants are trying to boost their "green cred" by launching a no-cost-to-the-consumer electronics recycling network in the Land of Lincoln and Change. Details of this 2009 development via Engadget.

No such thing as too big to fail any more. Circuit City was not able to pull through and they will be liquidating and closing their stores.

ComputerWorld revisits the whole scam-shops situation with a new round-up posted yesterday. Mentioned are the usual suspects, along with a trip down memory lane, and a "don't mess with the Texas" reminder for the "scam shops".

Even more interesting are the comments. Of note, a comment from B&H who tried but eventually could not mention the name of their cross-town rival :) Also an anonymous web developer who claims to have had ties with some of those stores.

Where have all the deals gone?

You may have noticed that we are not posting as many price-drops as we used to during December. The reason is price-cuts are very hard to find! In-fact a number of cameras have gone slightly up in price. Pretty soon, a camera staying put in price may be considered a "price cut". We'll have more details and a better picture of the situation later today after we complete the new top sellers update.
