Canon 60D body drops to $654

A new round of Canon DSLR price adjustments at Amazon brings the Canon 60D body only down to $654 with free shipping. The 60D price has been sliding, so keep an eye on it if you are interested in this particular model. It should go without saying, both the 60D and the 7D have been around for a while, so replacement models are expected among Canon fans.

Canon D-Rebel T3 w/18-55 drops to $400 again

The price of the Canon D-Rebel T3/1100D w/18-55 is yo-yo-ing. It is now down to $400 again at Amazon by Amazon and B&H Photo. It is optionally eligible for the Canon telephoto instant rebates, but the additional optional telephoto lenses are +$75 or more, so it only makes if you need the 55-250mm.

The T3/1100D is perhaps best suited for a beginner or as a first DSLR or for someone who doesn't want to be overwhelmed by a complicated camera. However, if none of the above apply, the Canon T3i/600D w/18-55 goes for $600 and the Canon T4i/650D w/18-55 goes for $650.

As of a 7:10pm ET recheck, the price of the 75-300 lens has jumped from $157 to $200, thus raising the price of the bundle from $586 to $630. For some people, +$50 to get the 75-300mm may still be a good trade-off, others, may want to wait for potential 55-250mm specials. The future is unknown.

Canon Instant Rebates extended until Dec-31-2012

The Canon Instant Rebates, in the same configuration of 7D, 60D, D-Rebels, and the 70-300, 55-250, 75-300 lenses, have been extended until December31-2012.

(DEAD) Canon D-Rebel T3i w/18-55 and 55-250 for $600 (add 75-300 for +$5)

As of a 11:35pm ET recheck, this promotion is dead on two counts. The 75-300mm lens is gone and cannot be ordered and the discount when buying the 55-250 lens is back to the usual $150 instead of the full price of the lens ($221). Also, the Transcend discount is gone. We will try to monitor the situation to see if it returns...

Retested on Nov-23-2012 at 11:17am ET: the 75-300 lens is back in-stock, but the discount on the 55-250 discount remains $150 instead of the full price of the 55-250 lens ($222~). But with this new development, the 75-300mm lens can be added for +$7. As of this update, the Canon D-Rebel T3i w/18-55 kit price is $580.

Expired items after the jump...

Canon D-Rebel T4i w/18-55 & 55-250 for $860

The current iteration of the Canon Instant Rebates now include the new Canon D-Rebel T4i/650D dSLR. If you buy the Canon T4i w/18-55 kit together (in the same shopping cart) with the 55-250mm EF-S IS II lens, you will get a combined purchase discount of $150 off the current prices. The current price of the T4i w/18-55 is $800, the 55-250 is $210, so $800 + $210 - $150 = $860. Please note both the camera and lens prices can change at any time for any reason and the blog-post text here cannot be updated automatically. Check the aforelinked Amazon pages for the latest.

This round of Canon Instant Rebates is good until October 27, 2012, unless it gets extended or changed or cancelled before then.

For a refresher on the T4i/650D, check its list of completed reviews which also include the recently published DXoMark test results. Canon doesn't typically do well in DxoMark test results. The T4i/650D had some lower scores that the T3i/600D and T2i/550D. See the aforelinked DxoMark test results for more details.
