May 13-14 (New York) Huge Auction Sale of J&R Inventory

As you may have heard, the iconic J&R World electronics store in New York closed. On May 13-14, there is going to be a huge auction of their inventory. If you happen to be in New York, you may find this of interest. Details at the J&R website and auctioneers website. This is a real-world brick and mortar physical auction, not an online auction. Among the auctioned items, per above:

"DIGITAL CAMERAS, SLR'S, POINT & SHOOT, BY CANON, NIKON, SONY, SAMSUNG, FUJI, ETC, LENSES BY CANON, NIKON ETC, CAMERA CASES, ACCESSORIES, MEMORY CARDS, TRIPODS, CAMERA KITS, ETC"

Fry's storage deals with in-store coupon codes (60GB SSD for $40, etc)

A new email from Fry's has "secret" in-store (brick and mortar store) coupon codes. For example, you can get the 60GB Patriot SSD for $40 after promo code (limit 1 one per customer, price before coupon is $55) or the 64GB Monster C10 microSD card (with full-size SD adapter) for $32. They also have their usual variety of weekly ad specials and they are running a "free shipping with order of $23+" promotion. As usual with advertised Fry's specials, YMMV. We obviously can't check every item in every store for availability.

This recurring promotion returns for the Staples brick-and-mortar stores shopping week of Sunday March 16 AM until the close of business on Saturday March 22 in 2014. It is 100% back after Easy Rebate (submitted online) on a 50pk of 8.5x11 double-sided Staples-brand photo paper. You pay $15 + tax (if applicable), use the information from your receipt to submit the rebate online, and after a few weeks, you receive a $15 prepaid VISA card by mail. Limit two for the 3/16-22 week.

March 2-8 (2014): free 60pk Staples 4x6 photo paper after Easy Rebate

For the brick and mortar shopping week of Sunday March 2nd until the close of business on Saturday March 8 in 2014, at Staples brick and mortar stores, you can get a 60pk of Staples 4x6 photo paper for $9.50 plus tax (if applicable). Then you use the information from your cash register receipt and submit the Easy Rebate online. After 4-6 weeks, you will receive a check for $9.50. Tax is not refunded. This is a postcard size check. It does not fit in ATM machines, but you can deposit it at your local branch or use your bank's/credit-union's online apps to deposit it online. The PayPal option is no longer available for the Staples Easy Rebates. This promotion is limit two for this weekly period. You don't mail anything in, you don't cut UPC codes. These are very straightforward rebates because they verify them directly from the cash register data.

Reminder: The Staples 4x6 rebates are in the form of a postcard check. The Staples 8.5x11 rebates are in the form of a prepaid VISA card.

Free after Easy Rebate (Febr 16-22): 50pk of 8.5x11 double sided photo paper (limit 2)

At Staples brick and mortar stores, between Sunday 2/16/14 at opening time and Saturday 2/22/14 at closing time, you can get a 50pk of Staples brand 8.5x11 double-sided matte photo paper for free after an Easy rebate (rebate can be submitted online). No coupon code is needed. Nothing to mail, no UPC codes to cut! The promotion is limit two for the week.

You pay $15 plus tax (if applicable) in store. After you go home, you use information from your cash register receipt to submit the rebate online. After a few weeks, you will receive a $15 prepaid VISA gift card. Sales tax is not included in the rebate amount. If you max out (limit 2), you pay $30 plus tax, and receive a $30 prepaid VISA gift card.

If you want to research the photo paper ahead of time, it is Staples SKU 564121 (offer is only good in-store unless otherwise indicated on their website).

100% back in Rewards on 24pk of AA Energizer Max alkaline batteries

If you are a frequent Office Depot customer, and you are looking to stock up on Energizer AA alkaline single-use batteries, their 100% rewards promotion is back. The offer is this: you receive 100% back as Rewards (on the product price; not the sales tax) on a 24pk of Energizer Max AA alkaline batteries. You can buy two of these per day, each day, for the week of Sunday 1/5/14 until the close of business on Saturday 1/11/14. This is good for online, brick and mortar and by phone purchases.

If you want to max out on this deal, it is two 24pks per day, for seven days (Sunday AM until Saturday PM), so you will end up with 14 24pks. A few weeks later, you will receive the purchase price back as Office Depot Rewards. The sales tax is not covered/included. You receive Rewards (think along the lines of Office Depot store credit with an expiration date), not cash/check!

The offer is only good on this specific 24pk, Office Depot item #626-049, not every Energizer set. You can check availability, terms, conditions, and local store hours through the Office Depot website.

TIP: if you are not familiar with how these rewards work, do not jump in unless you research them first. You cannot easily convert Office Depot rewards to cash, and you cannot roll them like you can with Office Max rewards. In other words, if you are not a frequent Office Depot shopper, you have to plan how you are going to spend them before you commit to the purchase. I've done these a few times, and if you follow the rules and the deadlines and understand the terms and restrictions, they are reliable.

Radio Shack B&M clearance: Nikon L810 for $100, SB700 for $250, Canon SX150 for $50, SX260 HS for $100 (YMMV)

This is a very YMMV brick and mortar potential deal. Radio Shack has a clearance sale of various (mostly previous generations) electronics at their brick and mortar stores. The items are sold out for online purchase, but you can use the Radio Shack website to "Find it Nearby" at local Radio Shack stores. You can expand by "Brand" on the left side of their page to check for your favorite brands. Camera-wise, they have a number of $100 P&S models. Among the Canon cameras, the SX150 IS goes for $50, the A2300 for $40, the A4000 for $50, some Elph 320s for $80, the SX260 HS for $100. Among Nikon cameras, the Coolpix L810 AA-superzoom is $100, the SB-700 AF Speedlight for $250, the AW100 waterproof for $150, etc. There are also a few of $50 or less Canon and Nikon basic P&S cameras.

This is only at Radio Shack Brick and Mortar Stores that have them in-stock. Obviously I cannot check for every zipcode out there, so this is a very YMMV adventure!

Keep in mind also, that even if the computer shows it in-stock when you check using the Radio Shack website, it may still not be available at the local stores for a variety of reasons. Wrong counts, computer not updated, employees cannot find the boxes, employees don't want to look for them or want to keep them for themselves, etc.

For the speed readers out there, this is only available at Brick and Mortar stores and only those that have them in-stock!

Availability of this varies from store to store and region to region. It is not available for purchase online or for Store Pickup ordering. You must needs buy it in the actual store. You can check details and availability at the BestBuy.com product page but you can only buy it in a store... Research with Sony NEX-F3 reviews list...

$50 off any clearance camera $75+ at Staples B&M stores with coupon

Staples has a brick and mortar only coupon that gets you $50 off the purchase of a clearance camera priced at $75 or more. The coupon is good until the close of business 9/2/13 (Labor Day). It is coupon code 21995. You can find it in the middle of the Staples coupons page. The most likely scenario of this coupon is for you to score an entry-level to mid-range P&S camera at a good price. This is only good at Brick and Mortar stores. The fineprint say:

" Valid in StaplesĀ® U.S. stores only. Discount applies to clearance cameras. While supplies last. Each item purchased can only be discounted by one coupon, applied by cashier in order received and prior to tax. Coupon not valid if purchased or sold and must be surrendered. No cash/credit back. Not valid on prior purchases or purchases made with StaplesĀ® Procurement or Convenience Cards."

Brick and Mortar One Day Deal: 15% off digital cameras at Staples B&M

For Wednesday August 28 in 2013, at Staples brick and mortar stores, they have a coupon flash sale: save 15% off on the purchase of various technology items, including digital cameras. The discount is on the current prices of the various products. Camera selection varies from store to store, but they typically don't carry advanced or professional gear. They may have a couple of DSLR/iLC models in-store but don't expect a B&H showroom lineup :)

I don't know if you can use the coupon to order more advanced cameras through the store kiosk or a store employee via their online ordering system. This is probably a YMMV depending on how the system is setup and perhaps on the local store's manager discretion? The promotion is only good at brick and mortar, not at their website. It ends at the close of business on Wednesday 8/28/13.

Free Starbucks in-store app trading card: Fast Camera (YMMV)

One of the recent free Starbucks in-store free iTunes apps via trading card is the Fast Camera app. The iTunes link is included for reference/research - you must get the free app trading card from a brick and mortar Starbucks store. The trading card has a unique redemption code on the back. You redeem that unique code at the iTunes store and the app downloads for free. Availability of the trading card will vary, some of the less busy/populous Starbucks stores may likely have it around longer. The redemption code on the back of the trading card expires 10/22/13. This is a different weekly free app from the one offered in the Starbucks iOS app.

B&M store coupon: 10% off any camera at Staples (excludes clearance)

The Staples e-mail newsletter is a coupon gift that keeps on giving. A new email with coupons arrived (look for the red "Get Your Coupons" link in the email). These coupons are good at Staples brick and mortar stores only:

+ 10% off any digital camera purchase (excludes clearance items)
+ Staples stores typically carry mass market P&S cameras, maybe 1-2 DSLR/iLCs
+ 50pk of Staples brand supreme photo paper 8.5x11 FREE after coupon and Easy Rebate (limit 1 per transaction; the rebate promotion is limit 4, so if you want to max out, you probably have to buy them in four separate transactions)
+ expire by end of day on Saturday 6/22/13

New 20% off coupon at Staples includes cameras (in-store only!)

A new email from Staples was sent to people in their emailing lists and it has a new coupon, 20% off any tech accessory, which includes cameras, as a camera is pictured on the coupon. The coupon expires Sunday night (6/16/13). This is good for in-store (brick and mortar) purchases only! It cannot be used on their website or for phone orders.

(ENDED) 10% any camera in-store at Staples with coupon (excluded: clearance cameras)

This coupon promotion ended... Staples sent a new email to people in their emailing list with a new coupon, 10% off any camera at Staples brick and mortar stores. Excluded are clearance cameras. Coupon Code: 61082. Discount applies to any camera. Excludes clearance. Each item purchased can only be discounted by one coupon, applied by cashier in order received and prior to tax. Expires 6/15/13. This is a brick and mortar in-store only coupon!

(ENDED) iTunes Gift Card promotions at Brick & Mortar this week

These weekly specials ended, but iTunes gift card promotions are recurring, so if you don't need to get one right now, just wait for the next promotion... I haven't checked all the brick and mortar weekly ads for this week, but of the ones I did check, there are in-store promotions for iTunes plastic gift card purchases. This covers the week ending Saturday night 6/15/13. At Walgreens, if you buy a $25 iTunes plastic gift card, you will receive a $5 Walgreens gift card. At CVS, if you buy a $50 iTunes plastic gift cad, you will receive a $10 CVS Extrabucks reward (must be spend on a single future transaction of $10+).

Strategery: there are frequent iTunes gift card promotions, so if you are a regular consumer of iTunes content, there's no reason to ever pay full price. Just keep an eye out for gift card promotions (plastic or electronic) and load up. These can also serve as an "emergency gift" to have in case of a gifting emergency. Then when your iTunes store balance goes low, you can load up one of the gift cards.

60pk 4x6 Staples photo paper for $2 after rebate (pay less with Season Pass)

For the week of June 9-15 in 2013, at Staples brick and mortar stores, you can get a 60pk of Staples branded 4x6 photo paper for $2 after an $8 Easy Rebate. Easy Rebates can be submitted online (nothing to mail in or copy or cut) and can be received as PayPal, Postcard checks or gift cards. You pay $10 + tax in-store, submit the Easy Rebate online, and after a few weeks you receive $8 in your chosen method.

This is a limit 4 promotion during the June 9-15 week.

But that's not all! You can save even more! Staples will be launching the $10 Season Pass starting June 9. You pay $10 to get the season pass, and from purchase day until September 21, you save 15% on supplies at Staples. Excluded are thin margin items like computers, gift cards, etc. In other words, if you plan to buy over $70 worth of supplies at Staples during these 3.5 months, you save more with this pass than without. The Season Pass is good for the purchase of photo paper, so this offer would be 15% of $10, so essentially it would become around 50c after rebate.

It is also possible that Staples may issue a mid-week coupon to further drop the $2 after rebate price, but that is not guaranteed.

Over photography app free with download card at Starbucks B&M stores

The Over photography app for iOS is FREE with a digital download code found in printed iTunes cards inside Starbucks brick and mortar stores. The free iTunes cards are somewhere near the Starbucks counter. The cards usually stick around for at least one week depending on how busy a Starbucks store is. The download code expires 8/27/13. Over lets you add text and artwork on your mobile pictures. You can research the app at iTunes but it is not free at iTunes! You can only get it for free inside Starbucks B&M stores by picking up the free iTunes trading card.
