If you like using camera books and prefer to read them in digital format, and you have or you are interested in the Nikon D7100 DSLR, the Nikon D7100 Experience by Douglas Klostermann is now in-stock in digital e-book format for $10 for the Amazon Kindle and iTunes/iBooks and Barnes & Noble Nook and Kobo. Please note this is an e-book, not a printed book.
The printed books by various authors are currently in pre-order state.
If you are paying for an Amazon Prime membership, you also get a free e-book rental per month. One of the e-books available for a free rental is the Low Cost Impact Photography e-book by Steve Johnson, a 154-page collection of tips and articles. For non-Prime members, the purchase price is 99c. It has 45 customer reviews with 4.2 out of 5.

As part of their Thursday deal of the day O'Reilly Books is offering 50% off their Top 25 e-books. One of the 25 is the The Book of GIMP. The standard price of the e-book is $40 but with today's promotion it drops to $20. The coupon is automatically applied in your shopping cart. Only the e-books are eligible for this promotion, not the physical books or the e-book + physical book combos. It expires at some point on Thursday night. O'Reilly e-books are DRM-free and a lot more flexible than the e-books from Apple, Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Kobo, etc. This book has 35 customer reviews with 4.8 out of 5 at Amazon.
If you are interested in learning more or understanding more about LED lighting in general, the deal of the day at the O'Reilly Shop is the LED Lighting primer book. This is not a photography lighting book. It covers LEDs from a general interest perspective, but since LED lights are becoming more popular with photographers, it might be of interest at a technical and general level.
Now the best price on the book, depends on what format you want and whether you want DRM or not. The O'Reilly Shop e-books are DRM-free. Not only that, but O'Reilly is also happy with lending and reselling their e-books as long as one does this ethically. Their best value is the e-book plus printed copy for $7.69.
If you want to pay the lowest price possible, and you are okay with DRM, you can get it for $3.77 for the Amazon Kindle.
The Barnes & Nbole website is having their year-end bargain clearance and among the bargain books we spotted the paperback version of National Geographic Complete Photography offered for $6. Shipping is free if you are a Barnes and Noble member (membership is $25/year) or if the total of your order is $25+.
As of the time of writing, there are 121 bargain books in the Art, Architecture & Photography category. There's no option to isolate the Photography books in this section.
Note: if you select Store Pickup with Barnes and Noble, you have to pay the in-store price which is typically higher than their website price.

This might be of interest if you are interested in photography as art. This is not written for photography specifically. It is the e-book deal of the day for the Barnes & Noble Nook readers for Wednesday, "The Art Instinct" by Denis Dutton, at the intersection of art and science, for $4. The price has also been price-matched by Amazon for the Kindle readers. Customer and editorial reviews of the book can be found at both of the aforelinked pages.
Yvon Bourque's brand new Pentax K-01 ebook is now available at the iTunes store for $11. This is an Apple walled garden book that can only be viewed with iBooks2 on an iPad running iOS 5 or higher. Click "Get Sample" if you want to look inside the ebook before purchasing.
The Pentax World Day (February 4, 2012) book is now available for purchase at Blurb for $38 (softcover) to $48 (hardcover). Details via the PentaxForums blog.
Thom Hogan is offering his new Introduction to Nikon software eBook (PDF) at an introductory price of $10. This is a digital download, with 242 pages. The introductory price ends June-30-2012. This is an ebook, not a printed book delivered by mail!
The following item is free but it requires Books 2 and an iPad in order to read: At the iTunes store, Getty Images is offering a 47-page interactive book entitled Year in Focus 2011 for free! The download is around 450MB. I don't know when this expires. The book was published on iTunes on May-22-2012.
Even if you don't have an iPad right now, you can still get it for free on iTunes. You can read it at a later time when you have a compatible device.
This 1-day special ended! Original post after the jump for the deal historians...
Amazon is running a limited time promotion that gives you a $10 credit towards the purchase of select Kindle e-Textbooks. This promotion is only good for electronic textbooks, not for paper textbooks. This is good only for select e-textbooks, not for every ebook. Be sure to pay attention to the details of this promotion as it is an intermediate level deal, it is not a simple add-to-cart-and-you-are-done!
1. Enter the promo code to your Amazon account - see complete details. You must redeem this by the end of day January 9, 2012.
2. Only e-textbooks that show this on their individual pages qualify:
3. If you are looking for some ideas, check the Top Selling Kindle e-Textbooks, among them you will find these photography-related eligible e-books: Photoshop CS4: Missing Manual ($6) and The Photoshop Darkroom: Creative Digital Post-Processing for under $3.50. For programmer geeks, there's the Pro Android ($5), and for business geeks, there's the The Six Sigma Black Belt Handbook ($6+)... There are more photography-related e-textbooks in the Top 100, including Joe McNally, David duChemin, Syl Arena, and Scott Kelby...
4. This is a $10 credit, not a $10 off discount, so you can use it on one or more qualifying e-textbooks. The price of the individual e-textbooks does not have to be over $10.
5. You cannot test it before buying, but right after you buy (on your computer), you can view the order receipt to make sure the promotional credit was factored in. If it doesn't work, you can painlessly cancel the order and get a refund at the Manage Your Kindle page. Simply locate the offending e-book, click on "Actions" on the far right side, and select "Return for Refund". Your payment method will be refunded and the ebook will disappear from your collection. A very painless refund process (I requested refunds this way a couple of times before and it is very easy)
If you are interested in photography books, BookCloseouts.com has a clearance sale with a number of books priced under $5. Also part of the clearance sale are older DSLR guides (eg Nikon D90 for $3), and Field Guides (eg Canon G11, Sony A700). Adjust the search keywords and search for your favorite subjects or authors for more! Free shipping if the total of your order is $35+.
This new special has two pre-conditions: 1) you must have a physical hardware Kindle device, and 2) you must be a paying Amazon Prime member (the $79/year plan). If your answer now (or in the future) is YES, you qualify for this brand new benefit from Amazon:
You can borrow one e-book for free, from a current selection of about 5000 e-books. The rental has no expiration date. You can only have one book out at any time. You can pick a new rental once per month. When you pick a new ebook rental, the previous one expires.(think of it as a Netflix 1-DVD out plan, with a limit of 1 new DVD per month).
You can only borrow and read these books from an actual hardware Kindle device! Amazon has details on their new Kindle Owners' Lending Library page.
The links to books below are so you can check the books and read their reviews. Eligible books will mention this on their individual pages! You can only get the free e-book loans from an actual hardware physical Kindle device!
