Mini Guide on how to make the most of our Black Friday 2013 coverage

We just posted a mini tutorial at the Main Blog on how to make the most of our Black Friday 2013 coverage! If you are not intimately familiar with this blog and our coverage format, be sure to check it out! It only takes a couple of minutes to skim/scan/read it.

Amazon and Tigerdirect and Overstock Black Friday ads digested [update]

Since our previous updates, we digested the Black Friday ads of Tigerdirect and Overstock. You can find them at the top of the stack at our mega-post of Black Friday 2013 Brick and Mortar Camera Deals. We should also point out a correction, in a couple of places I fat-fingered the price of the Nikon Coolpix P520 as $200 instead of $300. Thanks to one of our readers for the alert! It is now corrected! If you see any other errors, please let us know so we can correct them. It is a chaotic post, so the chances of errors and issues are higher.

In addition to some of the usual specials, we have the GoPro Hero 3 White for $180, a couple of hot memory card deals (32GB C10 for $10 and 64GB for $30), and things like that.

UPDATE: we added Amazon.com as well. This was a press release teaser, not a leaked ad.

Crazy priced Canon DSLRs (T3i, 5DMk3) in eBay and Rakuten Black Friday ads

The Black Friday ads for eBay and Rakuten are out, and they both feature crazy priced Canon DSLRs. We "digested" them in the Black Friday 2013 Camera Deals Digest. The big question is this: who is going to be the actual seller? eBay is a marketplace and Rakuten often features marketplace sellers. The key questions to ask of the seller: 1) are they an authorized Canon dealer, 2) are they a reputable/trustworthy/reliable/etc dealer? Where you draw the line is up to you and obviously, the higher the price, the higher the risk. The two DSLRs featured are the D-Rebel T3i w/18-55 for $390 and $420 and the 5D Mark III body only for $2450. Another question to ask, how many are they going to have?

New Black Friday Ads added: Costco, Staples and Office Depot

We just "digested" the camera and photo related specials in the Black Friday ads for Costco, Staples and Office Depot. You can find them all at the Black Friday 2013 Camera Deals Price Analysis post. This round includes a free-after-online-rebate special on 50pks of Staples brand 8.5x11 photo paper. Still no sign of a mirrorless camera, and among the iLCies it continues to be a Canon and Nikon affair.

Sam's Club Black Friday Ad is out: Sony H200, Nikon D3200, iTunes

The Sam's Club Black Friday ad is out and we "digested" the camera & photo related parts in the Black Friday Camera Deals Price Evaluation mega-post. Their camera headliners are the Sony Cybershot H200 compact-zoom with extras for $130, the Nikon D3200 two-lens DX VR kit for $600, and a 20% off discount on iTunes Gift Cards.

Best Buy Black Friday Ad is out, headlined by Nikon D7000 and GoPro Hero 3 Black

The Best Buy Black Friday Ad is now published on their website and we dissected it as well, adding a price evaluation of the camera gear to the Black Friday Camera Deals Price Evaluation mega-post. The headliners are a Nikon D7000 with 18-140mm DX VR kit for $800 (which appears to be a new kit "made for Black Friday"), and the GoPro Hero3 HD Black Edition for $250 (price is $330 after new Hero3+ flagship was announced). Yes, GoPro needs to come up with better ways to name their products. The "+" and color coding are points of confusion.

New Black Friday Ads added: Walmart, Sears, Target, Office Max

We added more ad breakdowns to the Camera Deals in 2013 Black Friday Ads blog-post. With this wave, we added Walmart, Sears, KMart, Target, and Office Max.

Microcenter Black Friday specials: Oly E-PM1 w/14-42 for $350, Sony NEX-5R, P510, H90 kit, etc

Microcenter has released their Black Friday ads in their Ads section. They have a mega-flash version (Desktop) and a Mobile version (much easier on the eyes and the browser). We include links to the Mobile versions. Of camera and photography interest (we only post the competitive prices):

+ NOTE: the links below to the Microcenter ad pages are correct, however, ZMags (the service hosting the Microcenter ads) automatically switches links to odd-numbered pages to the nearest even-numbered page. Simply click to the left or right to see the correct ad page. We can't fix their ads :)

+ Olympus E-PM1 w/14-42mm for $350 in page #21 [Amazon current price is $400]

+ Sony NEX-5R with 18-55mm for $650 in page #21 - this matches the Best Buy ad which suggests which suggests that the prices will drop to $650 at most/all authorized Sony retailers by then [current Amazon price is $750 among authorized dealers]

+ Nikon J1 w/10-30mm is advertised for $400 but the current Amazon price is already $400... This sold-out: and you can get the kit refurbished for $275 at Adorama

+ the Canon and Nikon and Sony DSLR advertised prices are pretty much similar with other published ads

+ Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 and Premiere Elements 11 for $75 in page #19 ($5 more than the OfficeMax price but still the 2nd best advertised price for the bundle)

+ Sony Cybershot H90 black with card and case for $150 in page #20 [vs current Amazon price of $200]

+ Nikon Coolpix P510 for $300 in page #20 - matches the Best Buy ad which likely means that Nikon authorized dealers will drop to $300 by then [current Amazon price $350~]

+ Canon Elph 110HS for $130 [was $130 earlier online; will likely get price-matched by then]

+ Amazon prices above as are of the time of writing for comparison purposes. The Amazon prices in the blog-post will not be updated. They are intended to be a snapshot in time. Click through the links to the Amazon pages to see the latest prices

+ I must say, of all the retailers having Black Friday ads, Microcenter has the easiest to read, easiest to navigate, and easiest on the browser. Maybe being a computer store helps :). There is an issue with linking to odd-numbered pages in the ad. Always a silver lining :)

Dell Home Black Friday specials go live (computers)

The Dell Home Black Friday specials [requires Flash to view] have gone live! Camera-wise, from what I have seen, they have price-matched some of the previously mentioned brick and mortar (eg Canon SX150 for $150) but I haven't seen anything new that stands out... Computer-wise they have two e-doorbuster computers, a $300 laptop (i3-380M (first gen), 320GB, 3GB, 15.6", etc) and a $400 Inspiron One all-in-one with a 21" touchscreen... At the bottom row of the aforelinked page they have a 24-inch UltraSharp monitor going for $300.
