As of a 11:18pm ET recheck, the estimate has changed to "1 to 3 months"... For more, check the Stock Status mini site or find it embedded below (testing widget on full-text RSS feed)
Amazon has a new estimate, April 18 in 2013 is their current in-stock estimate for the Fuji X100S for $1300. Please note estimates are only estimates and they do change over time...
The Sigma DP1x fixed-lens Foveon sensor digital cameras is currently available for $392 with free shipping by Amazon itself. This is an older model. The current generation are the DP Merrills with the APS-C-ish sensors. The non-Merrills have 1.7x-ish sensors. If I recall correctly.
As of a Friday 1:35am ET recheck, this sold out...
The Fuji X100 in Used (Very Good condition) is available, as of the time of writing, for $535 with free shipping by Amazon Warehouse Deals. Amazon Warehouse Deals has a 30-day return policy but no warranty, so be sure to factor that in your trade-offs/risk-matrix. Please note that prices and availability of used items can change at any time and the blog-post text here cannot be updated automatically. Thanks to Twaddler Belafonte for the alert in main blog comments.
Nikon's just announced new camera gear are now available for pre-order as follows...
The Amazon product page for the Fuji X100S has changed: it is now saying "Usually ships within 1 to 3 months.". Previously it was in the black hole of stock status states, "temporarily out of stock". The estimate at B&H Photo remains pin-pointed to March 27, 2013... For present and future updates, check the Stock Status site.
The Fuji X100 has now dropped to $1050 at B&H Photo as price-pressure mounts from the upcoming release of the $1300 Fuji X100S. X100 prices are dropping but when price-checking online be sure to check both the reputation and the authorized-dealer status of the seller offering the camera at discounted prices! If you are aware of the risks and trade-offs when buying from lower-tier retailers on eBay/Amazon/Sears/etc, that's your decision, but don't buy just because the price is lower! Be sure to understand the risks/trade-offs first.
With the new Fuji X100S second-generation model coming in the next few weeks, the used prices of the first-generation Fuji X100 are getting some price pressure. As of the time of writing, you can get it used in good condition for $720 by Amazon Warehouse Deals (30 day return, no warranty) and for $740 at Adorama with 6-month Adorama limited warranty. These are available through Amazon. These are used! When price-checking these, at Amazon or eBay or elsewhere, be sure to check who the seller is and their reputation if you are not familiar with them!
With the second generation Fuji X100S waiting in pre-order state, there is more price pressure on the original Fuji X100. Its price is now down to $1080 B&H Photo and Amazon.com. The camera is already discontinued/no-longer-available at Adorama, J&R World and Best Buy which previously carried it... When price-checking online, be sure to pay attention to what the seller is. You may find it at a lower price, but also at a lower quality of a seller. Also be sure to check authorized dealer status which has warranty implications.
UPDATE (2/1/13 at 9:51pm ET): The Amazon "Item Under Review" warning appears to be resolved as it is no longer shown on the aforelinked product page.
The Sigma DP1x is on a price-dropping trend again. As of the time of writing, you can get it for $390 with free shipping at Amazon by Amazon. We are placing a "falling knife" watch on it. In the fall of 2012, it dropped as low as $250 before it started climbing up in price.
UPDATE (10:18pm ET): The price is now $350 via a 3rd-party seller with the order fulfilled by Amazon. Amazon's own price remains at $390. Thanks to PoA for the alert in the comments!
Also keep in mind that Sigma has multiple DP-series models, so be sure to look into them if you are not familiar with all the different models. The latest models have the slightly larger Merrill APS-C-ish sensors, growing from the 1.7x-ish sensors of the earlier Sigma-Foveon cameras.
As of a 1/17/13 at 11:47pm ET recheck, the Fuji X100 Limited Edition sold-out and is marked as discontinued at B&H Photo. However, its price has now dropped to $1300 at Adorama where it is in-stock as of the time of this update... If you want to do a DIY price-check on the X100, you can use the old X100 stock status page (no longer updated).
If you are a fan of Limited Edition cameras, the Fuji X100 (original generation) Limited Edition has dropped to $1300 at B&H Photo.
$1300 is the same price as the pre-order price of the brand new Fuji X100S (second generation), currently available for pre-order.
This is a caution alert. You may see this making the rounds on the internets but do not fall for the low price! Sunset Electronics on Amazon is offering the Fuji X100 (2010 model) for $842. Do not buy it because the price is low. There are a lot of risks involved with this. Research and Google! Unless you are a super-seasoned shopper and understand all the potential risks and issues and problems you may run into, do not buy this! Do not fall for the low price!
